Canada is the destination of many tourists every year. With millions of visits yearly, it’s clear that it is a marvelous place to visit.
Many people already have Canada checked in on their travel list, but many of us still want to check that line on our list.
But once we finally decide to travel to the beautiful lands of Canada and check this one item in our travel list, one question comes to mind.
“Do I need a Visa to go to Canada?”
Visiting Canada from the US
Accordingly to the department of State of the U.S., if you are a U.S. citizen and plan to take a trip to Canada and you will be there for less than 180 days, you don’t need a visa.

Other types of travel like if you are going for study or immigrate or work generally you will need a visa.
If you are traveling with a minor that is not your child or if you don’t own full legal custody, you may need an authorization for the child from the minor’s parents required by the CBSA.
Visiting Canada from places like Australia, Denmark, etc.
Things can get a little trickier when you are not a U.S. citizen.
If you are traveling to Canada by land or sea and you are from places like Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Monaco, New Zeland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and many more, you don’t a visa.
But if you are from these places and you are flighting to Canada you do need an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization).

Special cases for eTA exemption
In some occasions, you don’t need an eTA like if you are from a foreign nationality and you have official Canadian Documents.
Some travel and official representatives also don’t need an eTA.

Visiting Canada from other Places
If you are visiting Canada and you are from places like Afghanistan, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Egypt, India, Malaysia, Russia, Vietnam and many more you will need a visa.

Visiting Canada can be a marvelous experience. But for your trip to be great, research and planning are extremely advised.
You may not need a visa or much documentation to visit Canada, in this case great, you can take this item out of your list and focus on other things like passport or clothes and many other things.
You may need an eTA, which is not the same as a visa, in this case, it can be done easily online and probably very soon you can be traveling to Canada.
But you may need a visa, in this case, you need to apply to one, it can be very fast to get one, but it can take some time to do so.
Anyway, plan your trip carefully, take your time to research about the place that you are going to visit, and enjoy Canada.
